Yea, Union!

Posted by AAL on April 30, 2007

Now this is more like it! A real union meeting with real excitement swishing around the room. Will we strike? What is the evil state planning? How will we respond? So much to plan…

Regulating the Lights

Posted by AAL on April 24, 2007

Miserly’s office happens to sit between Doc’s and mine in Library. This is okay since I can often see him coming and shut my door and pretend to be on the phone. When it becomes a problem is when he tells Doc and me to turn our lights off when we are out and on when we are in???

It is a bit creepy that he is watching us to this extent and really weird that he thinks it is appropriate to tell us what to do with our lights!

Body Language as a Voting Tool

Posted by AAL on April 19, 2007

Miserly has met with the Provost about Doc and my letter. He is most disturbed (pissed off, livid, furious, beside himself…) and defended his action by saying that the Provost did not expect us to vote on a position with regard to the Interim Director and our letter “did no good.”

I asked, “Would you share with me how you decided what the decision of the department was?” He said “I could tell by the department’s body language.” Very interesting! And this is in a society where lie detector results are not admissible in court?

No Need to Even Meet

Posted by AAL on April 13, 2007

Miserly has informed the faculty that he met with the Provost and told him that Library faculty met and decided that we wished the Interim position to be filled from within. What??

We had decided to continue the discussion and he independently decided that we would not be doing that? Is he afraid of discussion or could he possibly think he has a right to do this as chair?

Doc and I are drafting a letter to the Provost stating our reasons for disagreeing with this decision and our surprise at the unprofessional overreaching of Miserly.

Decisions Already Made

Posted by AAL on April 11, 2007

We (some of us?) came to the Library faculty meeting expecting that we would be discussing the faculty’s recommendation concerning an Interim Director, since Twitchy resigned. It was quite clear that Blondie and others had already decided that the position should be filled from within the library – with none other than Boobie.

Doc and I see this as a huge problem and a conflict of interest with a faculty member straddling the fence with administration – Not to mention the relationship between Boobie and Bully-boy! There will be nothing said in a department meeting that will be confidential with regard to the director and this was something that was of utmost importance when Twitchy was still in residence – but not so now?

All attempts at discussion were frowned upon although there were clearly faculty that wanted to consider other options. With consensus not reached it was decided that we would meet again on Friday.
